Open spaces and natural heritage
Just a stone's throw from the Place Ducale, on a 14-hectare site, the Mont Olympe is an area suitable for relaxation, leisure and tourism. It offers numerous facilities such as a water sports centre, an aquatic centre, playgrounds, a marina, a municipal campsite and a park accessible to walkers.
Overlooking the plain of the same name, the Mont Olympe park is accessible via the Vieux Moulin footbridge, behind the Vieux Moulin or Musée Rimbaud, and its paths lead to the top of this hill which, before the foundation of Charleville in the 17th century, was called the Chastelet hill because of the ancient Roman oppidum which protected the ancient Gallo-Roman city of Castrice.
